Simple Steps for a Spring Sort Out!
Spring has officially arrived! It’s time to open the windows and let in the fresh air.
The one thing we really look forward to this time of year is the daffodils popping up around the garden. So bring the outside inside, get some flowers and brighten up your house.
Every home needs at least one big sort out a year and Spring is often considered the best time. Put away your Winter clothes, rearrange the furniture and get rid of things you no longer need. Imagine that sense of achievement and how much better your home will look after you are finished.
Here is a simple step by step guide to help you on your way to a sort out!
1. The Bedroom(s)
- Go through your old clothes
The seasons are changing and I was guilty of just packing up my warm winter wear and putting them away until the cold weather rolls around again. Sort through your clothes and shoes, making more space and less washing for yourself in the long run!
- Revitalise your bed
With the weather starting to warm up now, it’s time to trade those cosy throws and woolly sheets for lighter linen ones. Why not treat yourself to a new spring time bed cover or pillow?
2. The Kitchen
- Get rid of expired food
Why have cans of food that are out of date? That is extra clutter! Go through your cupboards, fridge and freezer wipe down the shelves and get rid of any out of date food!
- Get rid of rubbish and recycling
The cupboards or walls nearest where your bin is kept are most likely to be the most unclean. We can accidentally spill, drips and splash of various foods and drinks, make sure everything is wiped down and clean otherwise you will get mould growing! Overfilled bags of rubbish can tear if so if any spills happen make sure you mop your floor and get that lovely kitchen shining.
3. The Living Room & Dining Room
- Put away electricals you aren’t using
There is nothing more dangerous than having leads scattered everywhere. If you are not using them put them away. If you are like me and have a drawer where anything and everything goes… it is time to sort it out. Ask yourself if you really need your old phone charger. Get rid of old wires, batteries, pens, staples, cards etc. Its only clutter!
- Refresh your décor.
Dust the table tops and lampshades and if you really want to go that one step further you could get your carpets professionally cleaned from all the wet and dirt carried in from the winter weather. Put new photos in your frames, buy a bunch of flowers, buy a new patterned table cloth or buy a statement piece of art to hang.
4. Outside
- Clean your garden.
Get rid of all those dead leaves. Also replace your welcome mats, they will have a battering from the wet and mud in the winter, if there are only a few leaves stuck then a good shake will do but if it’s looking very dirty and worn then it is time to invest in a new one.
Hopefully this helps toward your spring sort out. Getting rid of clutter is essential to have a tidy and clean house. Try it, be out with the old and in with the new for the spring season.
