Make your home super cosy in time for Christmas!

Autumn is a great time of year. Leaves on the trees are turning red, the starlings are back over the promenade and homes can be made to feel so much cosier.

As we have said before, people who have their homes on the market in Autumn want to be in their new place by Christmas, so this season can be a really good time to sell. With that said, if you are thinking of putting your home on the market or are looking at ways to adapt your home for the colder seasons here are some tips:

Make sure your home is looking its best for photography and viewings:

• Your garden at the front and back will be covered with leaves which cannot be helped, keep it free from leaves if you can, there is nothing worse than dragging dead leaves in and out. With Summer come and gone, if you have hanging baskets or plant pots, remove any dead or unsightly ones and replace with autumnal ones. Does your home have a view? In Summer the trees are in full bloom which of course is great for some people but not if it is blocking out the amazing views your home has to offer. Buyers can see your views, and this can be a key selling feature to your home.

• From outside to inside, it’s time to get cosy! Light your fires, switch on your lamps and get some scented candles going ready for when your viewers arrive. Once they step in from the cold they will instantly be greeted with the warmth and cosy ambience.

• Beds should be layered with cosy accessories such as throws and cushions. Also choose Autumnal colours such as red and orange hues.

• Speaking of accessories, it’s not just the bedroom that should be decorated. Style your home with flowers, church candles, apples in bowls, pumpkins and little munchkins (baby pumpkins) around. You could even get air fresheners that spread hints of ginger bread and cinnamon.
